glorious kaffe fassett

I've been a fan of the wonderful Kaffe Fassett since my early twenties when I read Glorious Inspirations and promised myself that one day I would knit his outrageous Romeo and Juliet Coat (immediately above) "grand romantic coats like the Romeo and Juliet coat inspired by the Nureyev ballet, with extravagant gathered shoulders and floor-sweeping skirts in stripes of mohair and bouclé with a tight jewelled bodice".

I just love the cacophony of colour, pattern, layers and busyness that his work celebrates. Truly abundant!

Linger a while at his gorgeous website and luxuriate in the Gloriousness that is Kaffe!

Thankyou for your beautiful words, for taking the time to read my blog and posts...and for making me feel better on a disappointing day. I should have been going to Paris with work today (first time ever) and I am in bed with a rather horrid sore chest....no trip to Paris.
However I believe in a reason for all things, and this trip was not meant to be. However reading your lovely blog is cheering, and the music and pictures has lifted me right up and out of the 'I'm feeling sorry for myself doldrums' so a BIG thankyou, you lovely lovely girl.
I won't be there in May but there will be the most wonderful and talented girls there, you wont go wrong.......
I hope the weather has improved in your corner of the country...though I must say I envyed you that snow fall, just to see all the beauty of it, and smell the cold silence..thats the stuff of winter dreams.....not the slushy stuff that comes after though!
Going back to sleep now,
Have a lovely week and thankyou again.
Hugs Lynn xx

Hi Helen,

Thanks for your comment on my blog. The course at Made was really good. I think the next one is on 27th. You can contact Josephine at josephinedoolan(at)hotmail(dot)com. Tell her that 'Woo' (that's me) gave you the details.
Tenterden is lovely, haven't been there for ages. If I am passing I'll let you know and if you do decide to do the crochet, let me know.

Take care.

I just found your blog. Have you had time to knit this wonderful coat yet? I want to knit it but with some mods (maybe not such big puffy sleeves). I'd like to read the pattern to see what is required because I heard he had to have someone help him knit it (I wonder how long it took).

A children's jumpsuit from KF's Family Album was about the second pattern I ever knitted. It was so cute - my put in the zipper. I made it out of chenille though, being inexperienced as I was so it did't have the drape it should have. The pattern is quite dated so it looks more like a clown suit. But I am glad I made it even though the lady at the yarn store really tried to discourage my as she said it was too hard for a beginner in that really snobby yarn store kind of way. I don't care if something is hard. If you're inspired by the design something hard can be easy. (:
